So Long, and Thanks for All the Icons

I've decided it's finally time to retire this icon as my default. I still love the picture, but now that Sylvester's been gone a year and a half it's starting to make me sad to see his squishy face every time I post.

Allow me to introduce you to my new default icon:



This is a snip from one of Boo's early forays into fingerpainting. I feel that this artistic expression of the three-year-old captures an essential component of the LJ experience.

Mostly the experience of scanning your friendslist and saying, "What the hell is that?!"

Picking a default icon is *hard*! I seriously considered knitting one... But I finally realized that I just wanted something abstract and pretty and, behold! saving every piece of paper my daughter has ever drawn on came through.

Apart from losing a hard drive this weekend, I'm good. :) It was less than six months old, but my brief moment of righteous indignation was quelled when I recalled that I'd knocked it off my desk twice in its first week of use. I didn't actually lose anything irreplaceable, though, so no real harm done. Except to my nerves. :)
