Lawn Mower

The lawn mower repair folks delivered our shiny new lawn mower this morning. They also installed the mulch kit, no charge. So, while losing an entire lawn tractor = not so good, replacing it with a brand new one definitely counts as a save in a customer service department. Plus, it's been so darn dry around here that we haven't even needed to mow for something like three weeks, so not having a mower hasn't even been much of an inconvenience.

In Hypericon news, I'm washing my pile o' Potter scarves in preparation for tasselling this afternoon. I have two ear flaps left to knit on my fourth Jayne hat, and I'm fairly certain I have enough yarn for a fifth, which I feel confident that I can finish during the con. I used Elann's Highland Wool, and it's actually not a bad yarn, especially for a project that's supposed to look rustic. Cheap yarn delivered fast. :)

That is a very fine lawn mower, that is. Shiny. :-)

I've been reading about how push mowers are the trendy things for womens-folk to be buying to maintain a yard, and must admit I'm tempted. I just don't *do* loud things (other than bagpipers, heh), so have always been lawnmower-averse, especially when you toss in the flying shrapnel, fast-spinning sharp objects, and gasoline cans. For this reason, I pay The Guy to come mow my lawn.

I will probably continue to pay The Guy to come mow my lawn, because OMG HOT here in the summer, and also when the heck do I have time to mow the lawn? Do you have any idea how long it's been since I so much as *cleaned the bathroom*???

Yeah. So much for that. I need to sell the house and move to a townhouse with a couple of nice flowerbeds and some containers to garden in. *g*

My sister has one, but she also has a very, very small--and very flat--lawn. Also, the blades have to be sharpened periodically. Still, she can store it in the little gap between the back door and the refrigerator, so that's a plus. She also says it's a good workout. :)

Unfortunately, all my neighbors are older and retired, and there's a lack of families with gullible teens willing to mow my lawn for $20 or less. I did, though, get a flyer from a lawn service stating that she provided her services "with the up most in care and detail."
