My daughter, as some of you may know, is completely obsessed with volcanoes. I believe this to be a direct result of her watching the "Firebird Suite" portion of Fantasia 2000 approximately fifty billion times. She was eventually moved to create her own visual interpretation of the video, shown here:

Artist's comments:
Picture 1 (left): This is the fairy making flowers, then she's touching the volcano and waking it up.
Picture 2 (middle): This is the volcano chasing the fairy.
Picture 3 (right): This is the fairy making flowers and being happy.
(I have, by the way, done my best to explain that real volcanoes don't erupt when you touch them, and also explained that touching real volcanoes is a bad idea anyway. I suspect she knows this already, but I thought I'd make the effort to stave off years of therapy for vulcanophobia.)
ETA: If you haven't seen Fantasia 2000 or don't remember the segment, you can watch it here.

Is she obsessed enough to know the difference between a lava flow and a nuee ardente yet? To know why shield volcanoes are less dangerous than stratovolcanoes, or why cinder cones never get very big?
See if you can get Melissa to dig out that book I gave her and read that poem about the volcano and the
