Have encountered yet another situation not covered in baby literature: What to do when the cat falls in the tub while the baby is taking a bath.

Oh $#*%!!!

Man, I freak out when a cat falls into the tub when I'm taking a bath! Claws! Skin! Aaagghh!!

Um. I'm gonna say, "grab the baby, the cat's on her own." Gah. This game is too nerve-wracking for me.

The weird thing was, Sylvester didn't freak out. He just stood there in the water (it was pretty shallow, maybe three inches deep), and all I could think of was to get him out of the water before he *did* freak out. So I picked him up and plopped him on the carpet, kicked the door shut so he couldn't streak his wet paws all over the apartment and armed myself with a towel. The bathroom is really small, so I could sit by the tub right next to the baby and still grab paws for drying. Boo thought it was all great fun, and kept reaching for the cat over the side of the tub and cheering me on with raspberries. Never a dull moment. :)

LOL! "Hmm. I'm pretty sure this is not what I was expecting."

It's amazing how you just kind of go into automatic pilot at those moments, huh?

It sounds to me like you have the beginnings of a great book: Surprises in Child Rearing. I think you would do an excellent job writing it.
