So, when's January?

It took me a while to warm up to this one (mostly because I missed the teaser, I suspect) but once it got going it was good all the way.

Part of the problem, as I said, was that I missed the teaser. I started the tape late, and then the repeat came on an hour earlier than I thought. I think if I'd been caught up from the beginning with Teal'c and Bra'tac in danger I wouldn't have spent the first act buffing my nails and wondering when something interesting was going to happen.

But, dude. Once it all started happening, I was sucked in like a hoover. At first, I was irritated that Daniel got stuck out on his lonesome with Dr. Lee, but then I got to like Dr. Lee. And I also liked it that even though the team was split up, they were *all* doing something important, and we got to actually see what they were doing. But, damn, I wish Jack had been there in the jungle. :)

This was also a primo quote episode. "I have some notes." "I found it." "When has plan A ever worked?" But my favorite moment has to be Daniel's little what-the-hell-are-you-still-standing-around-for "Go." Not only was it just damn funny, it was also so like Jack, and I loved that it showed that Daniel was completely and pretty much effortlessly in charge.

I'm sad that the guide got shot. I was wondering how they were going to handle him seeing the alien technology and so on, but I'm disappointed that they (apparently) killed him. I have a sneaking hope that he's not really dead, but I'm not gonna hold my breath or anything.

I did have a problem swallowing the ease with which Daniel and Lee a) figured out where the super-secret alien technology was, b) found the temple and c) recovered the device (watery death traps aside). It was just a little too pat. But it was something I could forgive because, well, it worked with the plot. Plus, it was just too funny that Lee fell into it. I am easily amused.

And Jack. Jack was being utterly Jack in this one. His little speech to Ramius was a gem. "Save your ass...es."

Those kidnappers really have no idea what they've done. If Daniel doesn't get himself and Lee out first, Jack will come down on them like a ton of bricks.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention sweaty, unshaven, bare-armed Daniel. Hoo! Oh, no, that wasn't a beefcake shot, no sir.... He is a lovely, lovely, man, and it was very kind of them to share that with us. :)

Not soon enough! *g*

You picked all my favorite lines. I loved Daniel's take charge attitude in the jungle. It definitely seems that he's picked up a lot from Jack.

And Jack's "I have some notes." really needs to be iconned. ;-)

Shhh! You're not supposed to notice. Look! Over there! Scruffy!Daniel! Now with 15% more stubble!

I'd would complain that TPTB seem to be using the expedient of Daniel's smokin' hot bod to distract us from the huge honkin' plot holes ("Beneath the Surface" anyone?), except we got primo eye candy. Yeah, the story had some questionable aspects, but they gave us a Daniel buffet that will be fueling pervalicious thoughts in the long months to come. This is never of the bad.

I'm shallow and I like it. :-D
