Spent the day with [livejournal.com profile] coreopsis and had a blast. As she says, it's nice to talk to real live people every now and then. I am so lucky in that I can geek out with my other buds on almost any geeky topic, but my crazed obsession interest in the minutae of fan fiction and media fandom is something they don't share. Fan fiction and media fandom are a big part of my fannishness, so it's great to have someone with whom I can get that fix. So, we talked about stories and fandom and fans and shows, and it was all good. I even finally learned what GIP means. :)

Boo had a great time, too. She played and crawled and got into stuff and ate probably one of her messiest meals ever. She's trying to feed herself, wanting the spoon so she can put it in her own mouth and even wanting to dip it in the food herself, but usually what she does once she's dipped it is to wave it around and splatter food everywhere. It's a good thing [livejournal.com profile] coreopsis has family friendly kitchen furniture, that's all I'm saying.

On the way home, I stopped and replaced my faithful back massager, which had finally given up the ghost after a decade (what is it with my appliances lately?). I really wanted one like my old one, with a nice solid arm that adjusts so I can get good leverage on my shoulder blades. I'd looked at Wal-Mart, but all they had was this bizarre curved thing that looked pretty fragile. My route home took me past a Target, so I checked there and found exactly the one I'd had before, only with a few upgrades like different attachments and an arm that adjusts to almost any angle instead of just three or four positions. I just hope that this is the last thing I'll need to replace for a while. At least until after DragonCon.

I got to [livejournal.com profile] coreopsis's about 15 minutes late because I stopped for ice cream, but not because of the ice cream. I got in and got out of the store quickly, even with baby in tow, and was virtuously on time when I started the car in the parking lot...and got the low oil signal. So, I had to take Boo out (again), put her in her stroller (again), go into the store (again), find motor oil, check out (again), come back to car (again), and add the oil. Albert's taking the car in tomorrow for some maintainance, and to do this recall thingy (something about the gear shift slipping out of park or something trivial like that), and I'm just hoping they don't call and say "Man, that engine's burning up the oil, you need it rebuilt/a new one." Here's hoping.
