Mama's Got a Brand New Bag

Well, I did it. After nine months, I finally allowed myself to go hog wild and buy...a new diaper bag.
{chirp...chirp....}
Well, okay, it's exciting to me, because it's a) the first actually new diaper bag I've owned and b) the first one I paid more than $5 for. Which probably explains a lot.
The new bag is very nifty and cool and compact. My first bag (used, $5) is actually in really good shape, but it was too big with too little organization. Everything just got jumbled up inside, and wedging the thing under the stroller was impossible. The second bag (free from hospital) was more compact, but rather useless after the zipper and strap broke. The third bag (used, $4) was likewise compact, but just a wee bit too small to hold baby crap and Mama's purse (and Mama's knitting), and I was thinking of upgrading even before the strap broke and forced me to take action.
So, I went down to Babies R Us and spent half an hour stuffing bags under my stroller and surreptitiously yanking the straps to see how well they were fastened on. The one I ended up with cost $20, and not only holds baby crap and purse, it also has an insulated compartment that frees me from having to carry food and milk around in a separate bag. What I can't figure out is how it manages to be not much bigger than the $4 bag that didn't hold anything but baby gear. Maybe that's what the extra $16 is for.
Anyway, it's green, it's waterproof (discovered through unintentional emperical testing), it's organized, and I'm happy.
